Do you want to go back

to basics?

Do you want to go back to basics?

A retreat at Jep’s Place is not for everyone. It is for those who want to escape the daily rat race, break free from autopilot, and reconnect fully with nature. No distractions, no external stimuli, just the space to be truly present. Here, you return to the essence, to the silence, and to yourself.

Simplicity and Depth

An Off-Grid Experience

Jep’s Place is nestled in the vast wilderness of Northern Sweden, with no neighbours within earshot, no streetlights, and no unnecessary luxuries. Here, you live off-grid, meaning you light your own fire for warmth and consciously manage your water and electricity use. This requires a different way of living, but it brings a profound sense of peace. You engage not just with your mind, but also with your hands. It slows you down and helps you truly feel where you are. This is not a conventional retreat centre with all the comforts of home. Here, the rhythm of the day is dictated by nature. You tend to your own fire, feel the cold, and learn how little you actually need to feel completely fulfilled. It is an experience that enriches you physically, mentally, and emotionally.

What sets us apart is our commitment to being completely off-grid. This means no connections to electricity, water, gas, or sewage systems. We provide our own. It’s a conscious choice to live in harmony with nature, understanding that every resource, from water to electricity, is precious. This off-grid experience becomes an integral part of your retreat, fostering a deep connection with the environment as you learn to appreciate and utilize resources mindfully.

The Place – An Old Fäbod with a New Purpose

Jep’s Place is built on the foundations of an old Swedish fäbod – a summer farm where livestock was once kept, and cheese was made. You can still feel that history. Most buildings here have been hand-built, radiating simplicity and craftsmanship. This is not a sleek retreat location with designer furniture but a place where nature is welcomed inside. We live as self-sufficiently as possible: vegetables from our own garden, eggs from our chickens, and wild-picked herbs and berries. Not everything comes from our own land, but whatever we buy is sourced locally and consciously chosen.

Space and Silence – The Power of the Scandinavian Wilderness

Here, you won’t find distractions, city noises, or Wi-Fi in every corner. What you will find is the silence of the forests, the vastness of the Swedish wilderness, and the opportunity to completely immerse yourself in your retreat. You can walk for days without encountering another soul. Winter brings deep snow, the Northern Lights, and the experience of truly cold temperatures, while summer offers endless daylight and forests teeming with edible plants and berries.

A winter retreat means going deep. The cold, the snow, and the silence bring you to a place of surrender and stillness. In summer, the long days and the abundance of nature invite you to explore and connect with the richness of the season.

For Retreat Leaders Who Want to Go Deeper

For Retreat Leaders Who Want

to Go Deeper

Jep’s Place is not a destination for a quick weekend getaway. It is a place for retreats that challenge people, take them out of their comfort zone, and bring them closer to themselves. Whether it’s breathwork, nature coaching, healing your eyesight, or silence, this place supports transformation. Here, you can gather around the fire, cook with ingredients from nature, and fully immerse yourself in a life that is simpler yet no less rich. Jep’s Place is intimate and small-scale. Your retreat group is the only group present; there are no other guests. The most practical group size is 8 participants and 2 retreat leaders, with a maximum of 12 participants and 3 leaders in winter. In summer, we can accommodate slightly larger groups, with additional participants sleeping in our safari tents. This ensures that your retreat is a deep, uninterrupted experience where nature and tranquillity play a central role.
Winter at the retreat site

The true power of Jep’s Place lies in its ability to create space for deep transformation. Depending on the nature of the retreat, guests have experienced profound shifts – from finding inner peace and self-discovery to reconnecting with their most basic needs and overcoming personal fears.

Jep’s Place acts as a canvas for self-realisation. Here, guests uncover hidden strengths, embrace their authentic selves, and rediscover their connection with nature. Some notice improvements in their overall well-being, others find the courage to face fears they once avoided, and many gain new insights into the healing properties of local plants. Whatever the journey, this place has a way of bringing people back to what truly matters.

Jep’s Place is not just about retreating into nature—it’s about immersing yourself in it. Each season brings its own unique adventures, woven seamlessly into the retreat experience.

In summer, hike through the wilderness and end the day with a fireside barbecue, take a dip in the lake or try your hand at (fly) fishing. If you dare and it mixes with your retreat, you can even step into Borgvattnet’s haunted house. Connect with nature through archery, learn the art of fire-making, craft your own bow, or dive into traditional skills like fermenting and creating natural skincare products from foraged ingredients.

As winter settles in and covers the land in snow, the retreats take on a different kind of magic.

You can go on a moonlit snowshoe hike, warm up with a barbecue in the crisp winter air, or take the plunge with an ice bath in a frozen lake and warm up in our sauna. Experience the thrill of ice fishing, or gliding through the snow on a husky-pulled sleigh.

And, if nature allows, watch the Northern Lights dance across the sky—a breathtaking reminder of the beauty of the wild.
